Centerville School District

The Centerville School District encompasses the community of Centerville and the surrounding 10 mile radius. The elementary (Kindergarten-8th grade) and high school (9-12 grade) are housed in one large building. The school has two gymnasiums and the Stan Schmiedt Athletic Complex which serve as training centers for all sports including volleyball, football, cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls track and golf.

With just under 250 students enrolled in K-12, the Centerville Public School is proud to report that they have met the Federal guidelines for the No Child Left Behind program in reading and math, known as AYP (adequate yearly progress) for the three consecutive years that the program has been evaluating schools in the US. The Centerville students have actually met and surpassed the recommended scores. This speaks highly of the students, parents, and teachers in our community. In 2005, over 100 out of 170 schools in South Dakota did not meet the AYP goal, so it is with particular pride that the Centerville community salutes our local school system and our young people.
