It's been a long time coming, but Centerville finally broke ground on the new Centerville Community Pharmacy building across the street from the current location on Broadway. Various dignitaries were on hand for the ceremony on a cool and windy, but sunny day. There was a good turnout for the afternoon ground breaking with coffee and cookies served afterwards. Construction will begin on Monday, 10 May 2010.

Join us in Centerville for food and fun on Sunday, August 30, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM in front of the current Centerville Medical Clinic and Community Pharmacy. The event will also include a free will donation BBQ meal featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, beans, drink & ice cream. All proceeds from the meal's free will donation will go toward the pharmacy project.
Musical entertainment and meal will be offered in front of the current Centerville Medical Clinic and Community Pharmacy by The Turkey Creek Revival Band and John & Susan McNeil. People are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and spend some time enjoying the music, meal and socialization.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Centerville School Commons/Gym. Barricades on Broadway by the south end of the community garden and at the intersection of Lincoln Street will be set up during the hours of 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Brendyn Richards, Director of Development for Pioneer Memorial Hospital & Health Services, commented, "We are close to breaking ground for the project and are excited to bring people together from throughout the area for some great entertainment, food and fellowship and to help advance the fundraising efforts needed to complete the project."
Bill Hansen, Centerville, Chair of the Pioneer Memorial Foundation added, "The new pharmacy will be a great addition to Centerville's main street. In addition to supporting the pharmaceutical needs of the Centerville Medical Clinic, Good Samaritan Nursing Home and our community, the larger facility will include room for more over-the-counter medications, retail items, herbal selections, gifts and cards. These expanded offerings will help draw citizens to Centerville from the surrounding area and keep dollars at home which is good for our local economy. The larger pharmacy building will also provide a meeting room for local community organizations and groups. The meeting room will have a separate entrance from the street allowing local groups to meet when the pharmacy is closed."
Georgia Pokorney, CEO of Pioneer Memorial Hospital & Health Services, commented, "We hope to break ground early this fall. Since opening the Centerville Community Pharmacy in 2002, we have increased our prescription numbers by 25%. We need more space to handle prescriptions and to provide room for pharmacy personnel to operate and consult privately with customers. We felt it important to provide additional space for retail items and a community meeting room. We are grateful to the Centerville community for their involvement in this project."
